Thomas Cowling Fynn lived at 5 Panton Street, St Andrew the Less, Cambridge and is recorded as being there in the 1881 census. He was still listed there in the 1896 "Kelly's". The 1892 "Kelly's" describes the address as being 5, Belvedere Terrace, Panton Street. We have visited the road and whilst most of it is still 'original', the odd numbered houses between 1 and 15 are no longer there. They have given way to the car park for the Scott Polar Research Institute. My father can recall attending evening lectures at that Institute in the 1930's but as he cycled he has no recollection of the car park being there or otherwise.

This picture is of the part of Panton Street, Cambridge that would have been opposite number 5 and gives a flavour of what the houses could have been like.

This picture shows the gap along the one side of Panton Street where numbers 1 through 15 would have been. It is now the car park of the Scott Polar Research Institute. Again the houses to the right could have been identical to the one where Thomas Cowling Fynn lived for many years.
