FREDERICK FYNN (1854- ) (If it's in red and underlined then it's a link to more information) The symbol: '@@@@@@' indicates that detail has been hidden to reduce 'identity theft' risks. See Legal stuff. Frederick Fynn was the seventh child of Robert and Mary Fynn (née Reeves) and was born on 19th July 1854 in St Andrew the Great, Cambridge. See Frederick Fynn's Birth Certificate. Robert gave his occupation at the time as Library Keeper and their address as "Earl Street, St Andrew the Great, Cambridge." We don't have a number in Earl Street but Number 7 was later mentioned (See !881 Census). He shows up living at home on the 1861 Census. In 1878 he was a Draper's Assistant and he married Alice Cable a 22 year old daughter of a builder. They both lived in Brixton and they married in Lambeth. His father, Robert's occupation is given as an Assistant Librarian. (See Frederick and Alice's Marriage Certificate). They had a son Frederick William Fynn (later sometimes known as William Frederick) later that year on 12 December 1878. They were living at 69 North Street, Clapham. (See Frederick William Fynn's Birth Certificate) A few months later the same Registrar, George Thatcher, had to record Alice's death. (See Alice Fynn's Death Certificate) She died on 24th July 1879 at Wandsworth Road Railway Station, Clapham. According to an Inquest held four days later by the Coroner for the Duchy of Lancaster in the County of Surrey she committed "suicide by throwing herself in front of an express train and .... died immediately." See also the Marriage Certificate of Frederick's brother Robert John Fynn. The brothers married Cable sisters. Frederick William Fynn seems to not be further recorded until an Army record was found. He apparently joined at the age of 15 and gave his Next of Kin as, Frederick Fynn of 102 Prince of Wales Road, St Pancras, London. He described himself as a "Wesleyan." To follow Frederick William click on: Frederick William Fynn. In the 1881 Census, Frederick describes himself as being single but in reality he is a widower with a 2 years old son. Frederick William is not mentioned with his father. Frederick remarried on 7th August 1885 to Jennie Elizabeth Sims. They both gave their ages as being 30 and Frederick was still a Draper's Assistant. They married in Lambeth; both living in Brixton; Frederick at 15 Tunstall Road and Jennie at 15 Geneva Road. Robert, Frederick's father, Robert, gave his occupation as: 'Assistant Librarian, University Library, Cambridge and James Sims, Jennie's father said he was a Railway Carrier's Agent. (See Frederick and Jennie's Marriage Certificate.) The only information as to children of that marriage is of a Herbert Sims R. Fynn born and died 1886. Jennie died as Jane Elizabeth Fynn on 3rd July 1918. She was 62 years of age and died at St Pancras Infirmary, Highgate. The cause of death was given by an A. Chilcott M.R.C.S. as Hemiplagia. Frederick was living at 50 Clarence Road, St Pancras at the time. (See Jane E Fynn's Death Certificate) Micheal Williams my co-investigator informs me that Frederick Fynn died on 1st December 1919 of 'chronic heart disease' at, I am told, Tooting Bec Mental Hospital.
