7, Portugal Place, Cambridge.

Portugal Place, St Giles, Cambridge is a narrow street off Bridge Street.

Mary Jane Neville (nee Smith) lived at number 7 with her husband, John Wright Neville a solicitor’s clerk (later qualifying) and their family.  They had had four children, Frederick J. Neville,  Henry W. Neville, Florence Neville, and  Percy Neville.

John Neville, a member of two Masonic Lodges in Cambridge, died on 1^st July 1878.

At the time of the 1881 Census Mary Neville and her children were living at 22 Kings Parade with her mother and step father but by 1886 she was living in Portugal Place again...

Felix Freeth Fynn was born at number 7 Portugal Place on 26^th December 1886 . This address was John Neville’s house; John being Mary Jane Fynn's previous husband.  It would appear that she set up house with John Fynn at the same address. They married on  8^th September 1886, only 3 months before Felix' birth.
